Sounds like the in let ports of the cartridge are clogged. Shut the water off and remove the cartridge. Check and clean the cartridge inlet ports. Turn the water back on for a few seconds to flush out the supplies and reassemble. If you need instructions on how to do any of this just click on back. Good luck, tom

Thanks, I'll try it. Interestingly, both bathrooms have the same problem with the same Moen tub shower single faucet diverter.

And all the other fixtures have hot water? While it's unusual for two valves tp pack up at the same time it's not impossible. You could have mineral build up in your water heater,( do you flush your heater out on a regular maintenance schedule?) and the crud could have been drawn into both valves during the evening showers.
Take one valve apart. If you find trash in the cartridge then it's a pretty good bet the other's the same. In case you don't flush your heater and want to know how it's done here's how!
For long life and fewer troubles you should keep your heater clear of mineral build-up by FLUSHING NOT DRAINING on a regular schedule. Attach a hose to the boiler drain at the bottom of the tank. With the pressure on, open the boiler drain and let it run until the water runs clear. You will see a spurt of red,(rust) followed by white or yellow grains,(lime or calcium carbonate). This shouldn't take more then a few minutes. Do this monthly to keep it clear. Now flush out your hot water lines on ALL fixtures that are affected . Now pull each aerator and clean the screens. Be sure you put them back together the same way you took them out. Don't forget to flush it out every month. Your heater will thank you for it. Hope this helps and thank you for rating my answer, Tom
