1) LK3;16"John answered and said to them all,"as for me, I baptize you with water; but One is coming who is mightier than I, and I am not fit to untie the thong of his sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy spirit and fire"" Based on this passage, if you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and savior you will receive the Holy spirit.
2) Think of the Bible as an owners manual for your life and your body. If you were to follow the teachings in the Bible you could live a full and productive life doing the will of the father. Can't sire chapter and verse on this one, it is just the way it is.
3) Fellowship with the body of believers that attend the same church that I do. These people have the same basic values and beliefs. Not that I shun others. But my three small groups comprise the people who attend the same church. Small group fellowship is crucial to growing in Christ In my opinion!

These are only a few of the Scriptures that apply. Hope they help. Will post more if you wish.

1.
John 16:13-15
13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
(KJV)

2 Tim 3:16-17
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
(KJV)

1 Tim 4:16
16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
(KJV)

2 Tim 2:15-16
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
(KJV)

Heb 10:24-25
24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
(KJV)

If you have further questions, I will attempt to answer them.

How do we know if the holy spirit is evident in our personal lifes?

Everything begins to heal, one can view the strong need of forgiveness in their life towards other, one can experience a desire to do the will of God, one will acknowledge the power of God, and the reality of HIS presence by HIS hand of reprove

How is the bible relevant to our personal and family experience?

Every explanation in the circle of life is told of in scripture. You can accept things without greed, and envy. You can love yourself more because you know God loves you and created you.

How is personal growth in faith and obiendance to God nutured and encouraged in your life?

Comfort and happiness. The drive to down size in what was once important in material things, not finding an importance in appearance, skill, and education. A desire to be all God created me to be, and trusting in HIM and thankful to HIM for everything.

I'd like to add that most people baptised through the Holy Spirit find abilities with time such as speaking in tongues, later interpretation of tongues, prophesying, heal people, etc. Of course, some people get some abilities earlier. :) By this, I mean that the Holy Spirit makes a great change in our lives.

Once you accept Jesus into your life,he will help and guide you and never leave you.
You don't need to see air to believe it's there.Have faith in God and he will pull through for you.

If you take a dead body, put all working organs into it.Circulate blood and beat the heart. How come it doesn't become alive?because its soul is gone...

(always liked that thought just said Id throw it in.)

I'd like to add to the post of Holly23, that you must not then put Him aside. Keep in touch with Him, it's then that you'll see the changes. :)

Jesus take the wheel. Bring your whole life To Jesus. Good and the bad. Everything. It takes time to develop a relationship. Takes a lot of prayer, communication, meditation, Reading the bible. Personally talk with him about all your concerns. Also through prayer and meditation learn to listen as well. Very important.

Bible is a blue print, guide of how we are to love one another. Gods great creation and mercy and forgiveness. Yes, there are many great stories and examples of how we are to treat one another and how God will guide every one of us that seek him.
