My daughters mom is trying to get full time custody in the state of NC. The baby's mom and her immediate family has a history of mental illness.

So what is the question? Are you trying to get full custody of the child? If so, you have to prove the mother is unfit and a danger to the child. Her financial situation has nothing to do with that.
