Where you live you must have well water to have such a calcium problem. Would suggest that you contact your plumber and ask him what sort of filter he needs to put on your intake waterline into the house to eliminate this excessive calcium and sediment build up. The whole house water needs to be treated, not just the hot water heater.

The filter for the house that eliminates or minimizes the calcium will be a heck of a lot less $ wise than constantly replacing the HW elements in the long run. It may cost now, but in the end your hot water heater will last a lot longer. Well water can be tricky. You need your water properly tested to see what ELSE needs to be either eliminated or minimized. Also the insides of your toilet will last a lot longer as well and your bath water will be better. Your hair and skin will feel better also without all that calcium build up.

You'll likely need a water softener system . Be sure the water is tested before you do the selection. Iron requires special care.
