I have a nosebleed right now.
And its NOT stopping.
I have found lots of contradictory information online. Tilt your head, Don't tilt your head. Use ice. Use water. Shove tissue up your nose.
Its not stopping, and its fairly moderate. Its just flowing freely. Any advise?

Pinch your nostrils closed for several minutes. Try that. I used this technique on my bloody nosed husband many times. If it does not stop within a reasonable period please seek help at the ER.

This is what I found:
Nosebleeds: What to Do When Your Nose Bleeds -- familydoctor.org (http://familydoctor.org/online/famdocen/home/healthy/firstaid/basics/132.html)
I think it sums up all the conflicting responses.

Thanks guys :) it did eventually stop on its own without pinching. But now I have a headach lol. Now I know what to do in the event of another.
Arizona sucks. No matter how much vasaline I put in my nose, it still gets dry.

Try spraying the inside of your nose with purified water. That helps. Arizona is hard on your sinuses and nosebleeds are prevalent. When I lived there in Prescott with my late husband he would have numerous nosebleeds. That's where I got the pinching technique down pat with him. He didn't have problems in South Florida where it is humid. You being out there with no humidity and the temps high enough to boil eggs on the sidewalk I pity you and have great sympathy for you. You might want to invest in a humidifier and keep pumping humidity into your living area to avoid dry nose problems.

Yeah, my sister is up in prescott and its worse up there than down here because of the elevation.
I use sailine drops (baby nose spray)
