I am a private in the us army and I am active duty, I currently caught a charge of possion and is wondering if it is within regulations that the army can chapter me out. For my charge the courts are offering me probation and one of my sgts states that I can not be in the military on probation. Is this true. Please help

My son was told the same thing that if he got in any legal problems his army time would be over.
I really don't know the details of if they will let some things slide. Hopefully someone can answer

Here is another interesting tidbit... if you do not get charged or convicted by a civilian court, you can still be chaptered out.
I saw several cases where someone was busted with drugs or whatever off post, charged but not convicted by a civilian court, brought in front of the battalion commander, handed a field grade article 15 and busted out of the service.
Particularly with drugs... the military is not tolerant. At all.
I hope you got some good training... you are very likely about to be unemployed.
