I have a 7 HP Briggs and Stratton engine.
Model 170702 Type 1211-02 Code 7205241
What I need to know is what carburetor this engine has.
I just want to see if I can get this engine running. It has
Sat for quite a few years. It is on an old PennCraft riding mower.

Look on the carb... it will be either stamped walbro or nikki.. hopefully it's a walbro.

What is the difference between the two carbs?
Not is a position today to look and see which one
I have. Does the carb need to be removed to
See what kind it is?
Many thanks

Yes it may need to be removed to see where its stamped with what brand.. walbro uses a simpler design (a more reliable design), nikkis are notorious for leaky inlet valves/seats due to they're design.

Well I went down today and pulled the carb off the engine. Took the time
To thoroughly clean the outside. Amazed how well it cleaned. - But - The only
Word stamped any where on the carb is the word "Choke" with an arrow...
The carb does have several needle valves and adjustment screw on the thottle.
Next step is to soak and rebuild. Leaving for couple weeks in Fla so will have
To wait.
