Im not getting my hopes up, but I'm wondering the chances of my wife being pregnant under the following scenario:

We have been having unprotected sex for roughly 2 years now. We have not been actively trying to conceive, but we have not been preventing either. Keep in mind frequency of intercourse has been somewhat low, at times only once or twice a month. That being said, I recently went through a semen analysis, and was disappointed in the results. Results were a low count of only 3 million/ml, and a high ph of 8.5. doctor told me to retest, because she suspects lab error (not getting to test in time), and because she says it can fluctuate greatly.

Ironically, when I went for the test, my wife was a few days late for her period. Didn't really think anything of it, until it got to be more than ten days. She is very regular, and this has happened once before, when it came 2 weeks late. But that time she did spot a little around her normal time, and it was a very stressful time due to other factors for both of us. This time however, it has been 3 weeks as of today, and there has been absolutely no spotting at all. She has noticed an increase in a light colored discharge (not brown, red or pink - no blood). And has felt fine other than when she was expecting her period, she felt like she was going to get it, but it never came. This has not been a stressful time for her either. Her last period ended on may 23, and she should have gotten her period on June 21. Still no sign of it. She has taken 4 hpts, all negative, but its been a while. She took one at 4 days late, 5 days late, 8 days late, and finally at 12 days late. She is now 21 days late. We have an appointment for a blood test on Tuesday, but I'm wondering what you guys think. Has anyone else been through this before? My doctor says to hold off on another semen analysis until we know what is happening with my wife. Any input is appreciated. Oh by the way, last intercourse before the missed period was between a week and a week and a half before.

Time to visit the doctor. Either you are preganncy and for some reason are not producing HGC, or you are not pregnant and your doctor needs to figure out why your not having a period.

Good luck hon.

By the way, my wife is 27, and I am 29, and we are both in good health

Some women take a long time to get a positive with an hpt. Heck, there are some women that never do, even when they're in the later part of pregnancy.

The blood test is a good idea, but if you don't want to wait, I'd try another hpt. The last one she took was at 12 days late, and a lot of times that's still too early to test positive.

Using first morning urine will give you more accurate results.

If it's negative again, then do the blood test. There are a lot of different reasons a woman misses her period, pregnancy is only one. It's best to find out what's going on.

Good luck. Let us know what happens. :)

Thank you, I will let you know. All tests were done with first morning urine
