I try to install windows XP on my computer, but the installation was frozen for a long time, so I press the restart button and restart the computer. When I try to boot from Windows XP CD to format and partition the hard drive, it tells me the drive is not accessible.
I try to use windows 98 boot disk and fdisk the drive, it doesn't work either, can someone please help.
Thank you

Check your jumper settings are correct, check your data cables are inserted properly and your hard drive power cable in firmly connected. Look in the CMOS settings to see if the hard drive is detected

I did all that, if I replace with another hard drive it works fine.

Hmm... What about the option in your bios where you can enable/disable drives.
Try disabling them all except for the one you want to install XP on. Did you try disconnecting any possible drives sharing the same cable? What type of drive is it?

I don't believe it is a hardware issue, I think some how the hard drive was interupted when formating or somehing, so the only thing I could think about is low level format it or create a partition. The problem is that I can see the hard drive just not access it.
