Hi,
I worked for my company for 5 years. It's based out of DC, and I worked in the DC office for 3 years... then I relocated to Boston for 1 year and worked out of my home there... then I moved to CA about a year ago and also have been working from home.

I got laid off a week ago and I can't figure out where I should be collecting unemployment from. DC? CA? MA? HELP!

Thanks!

Were you paid a salary, or were you a 1099 "independent contractor"?

Start with your state of residence.

I was paid a regular salary. My taxes, etc, switched to the state I lived in each time I moved.

Hello I:

Go to your local employment office and they'll gather your income data. If you are eligible for to receive benefits from another state, they'll do it all for you.
