Need more info. Off what? If faucet, name and model #. Single lever,two or three valve.

A bonnet packing nut performs the same function,( see images) on all valves with a stem and washer. These are brass to brass threads so there's no rust. Simply remove the handle and unscrew the nut off counterclockwise. Good luck, tom
