It's almost time for me to upgrade to a new phone. I'm really liking the G1 Google but I also like the new blackberry curve (both of these phones are tmobile). Does anybody know anything about either phone?

I know that when you have a G1 you are required to have an additional data package with the phone to even use the phone. Really or the phone doesn't work. With the Black berry Curve the phone will work, not all of it's features will work with out a data package but at least the phone will work. Perhaps you don't mind the additional expense, but it does sometimes make the phone less desirable for some people.

What's a data package?

I've seen that the G1 phones haven't went down in price yet, so I'm kind of aiming to the Blackberry. Believe me I don't have the money for something expensive, but I do want something nice

If your not aware of the data package you should really speak with a rep at tmobile. A Data package allows you to use the internet and other APPS for the phones that have internet access. IT can range from 19.99 - 39.99 dependent on the plan and the phone that you have. Check into it before getting a new phone. No sense in getting a phone that you can't use with out the additional expense or getting a phone and not utilizing it to it's fullest capacity.

Plus if you do get the curve and you set your email up on it and surf the internet on it and don't have a data plan they will charge you something like .03 cents a KB. Doesn't seem like much until you get your bill and it is an extra 100 bucks.

Yeah just talk to the reps but you will months def want a data plan and if you text a lot then months def get a texting plan.

And sometimes the difference in the texting and the data package is really only about $10. So if you are currently paying for texting which is about 10 for unlimited then the G1 might be a reasonable solution your cost might only be an additional $10-15. Go online and do a phone comparison at Unsupported Browser (http://www.tmobile.com). When you go into the store they most likely will try to convince you to purchase there phone (HCTC) G1 and not the blackberry, so do your outside research before going in. Good luck

I'm an avid blackberry user... to the point where I think I may have a problem. In the past 4 years, I've gone through 7 blackberries... and I loved them all. I've tried out the G1, but I found many faulty features... such as... if I'm texting or browsing online, and at that exact moment, a call comes through, the entire phone freezes (I wonder if anyone else had that problem?).

I'm also not a big fan of the size of the G1... I know the blackberry curve is still pretty big for a phone, but it seems to be a better fit in my pocket and in my hands.
