Myself and fiancé are desperate to adopt a baby. We heard of private adoption and are keen to get the process started. I have a daughter age 10, but fiancé has fertility problems and longs to be a father. We don't know how to start with this private adoption and don't know if we are Myself. We want a newborn baby that can pass as my husbands. We are a black couple and we did try egg donor but we can't find other black donors. Time is running out for us, fiancé feels his getting older at 41 and doesn't want to waste much more time.

To do a private adoption anywhere, you need a solicitor. Hire one.

I find it very disturbing, though, that you are specific about a newborn, and that it has to be able to pass as your husband's child. When you adopt a child, you ARE that child's parents in every way that counts.

I truly and sincerely suggest that the two of you go to counseling about this before spending the money and time on a private adoption.

PS--what's wrong with an agency adoption that you need to go private?

Agree with Synnen and am troubled by several aspects here.

Why do you want to adopt a newborn from the USA when you live in the UK? What is your citizenship?

How is your desire to adopt from the US and take the baby to the UK related to wanting "a newborn baby that can pass as" your fiance's child?

And why does the baby need to pass as your fiance's as opposed to an adopted child?

I see no hope of adopting in the US unless you are a stable married couple - do you have plans to marry? I understand that marriages break up; relationships break up; my money is on needing to be married to adopt.
