Thanks

Model is < 1 year old.

Spool appears to have run out of line. Seek to add line.

Trouble with step 1: cannot remove bump knob.

Instructions advise to depress outer spool and unscrew bump knob ccw

Bump knob will not unscrew

Seek options for carrying through process of installing line, or replacing lower parts of unit!

Thanks again!

It sounds like grass/weeds inside there are jambing you up.

I throw my bump spools out for weed eaters. Get the replacement spool end that allows you to put in two pieces of line in at a time. That line is sold at a very heavy thickness. Last twice as long because of the line being thicker. I carry a needle nose pliers to replace line as I weed wack It takes about 5 seconds to add new line.

On my Echos I use a Titanium 3.9 mm square line on down. Love the difference in whacking heavy weeds down. The push ins accept many different thickness of line becasuse where you push the line in the 2 side holes the cams grab it no matter what. Leave about an 1/2" plus past the cams in the center of the spool. This allows easy plier/line pull through of broken line
