I noticed a few weeks ago that I have developed a brown dot in one of my eyes, the left one. People have always commented on the fact that my eyes have a very noticeable yellow ring around the pupil, but now I am getting comments on the brown dot too. I am 30 years old and this has only just developed.

I was once told that something showing in your eyes could be a symbol that something is wrong somewhere else within the body. Is this something I should see a Dr for? Seems silly when it doesn't hurt...

I've taken a pic of my eye (just took it). Any ideas on what this is?

Change in eye pigmentation can be the result of natural aging (genetically determined), or it can be because of some underlying pathology. I googled three possible syndromes that include eye color changes: Fuchs heterochromic iridocyclitis, Horner’s Syndrome, and pigmentary glaucoma. Not being an ophthalmologist, I know absolutely nothing about any of these syndromes, but I think that if it were my eyes, I'd have them checked out by an ophthalmologist (not an optometrist).

We are not doctors nor can we diagnose you. You should go to your eye doctor for proper evaluation.
