I was arrested a week ago for theft of goods. I went on an interview today and everything depends on the background check. How long does it take for the arrest or charge to show on my background check?

If this arrest does not come up on the background check and you happen to get hired by this company how are you going to explain away your absence from work when you have to attend court? Also, if you are sentenced to jail time how are you going to explain that away? Or how are you going to explain away having to go in person to the probation department each month? You'll have to think up some great excuses for that company and hope that they don't re-run a background check on you months down the road and when they do find out you will be fired on the spot if their company policy mandates immediate termination for lying on the application.

The charge will not show up on your background check until you are convicted of the crime! Right now they are charging you, you are not convicted until proven quilty!

Here In Ohio it was one month after the charge and it sure shows... I don't know if it varries from state to state.. but its best to think if u are charged.. then it will show...
