My wife's side family consists of mother, younger brother, herself & an absconding father (absconding for more than 10 yrs).
They have properties in different parts of karnataka. I have the following the questions
1) what share is my wife entitled to in the entire property?

2) if my wife says she does not want any share in the property, can I legally put a claim to her share. Saying that since we have a child, to secure the child's future (for the sake of the child) so she should take her share in the property.

No, you don't automatically become entitled to her share anywhere I know. She can, of course, take her share and put it in the child's name but you can't force her to do that.

I don't think this situation would be legally sound anywhere.
