I have just purchased a Maytag front end loader washer and dryer. This is a brand new house and we have well water. Every load of laundry after wash and drying has a bad oder. When you let things air dry it is even worse. At our old house w/ old washer and dryer, and well water my laundry smelled fresh like the detergent and fabric softner. Please any help or hints would be appreciated. Could it be the water or the soap

Since you had well water in both your homes and you probably are using normal detergent... I would call the Maytag people, it's still under warranty (if it's new) and show the guy what is happening. Let him smell the smell.
When your appliance is new, these people are here to help you figure out what is wrong. They want you to be happy at least until the warranty runs out LOL :D

The smell is probably the result of using too much soap and it not fully rinsing out of your clothes. Use less soap and/or use the extra rinse option. Do not use the same amount as your old top loader. Front load machines need to be used with HE soap. Most HE soap is 2x or 3x concentrated so follow the directions for the amount to add. Also when you are not using your washer leave the door cracked open a little to allow air in to dry the bellow and the tubs. This will save you in the future from mildew on your bellow.
