About two days ago, my boyfriend and I had sex without a condom. I had been on the birth control Implanon for about 6 days, so we figured it was safe. Now, I am scared out of my mind that I might be pregnant because I found out from a friend that all birth control needs about two weeks to become effective. Today, my boyfriend bought me the Plan B pill so I am hoping that will work. What are the chances of me still being pregnant. I'm only seventeen and in high school... I am not ready to have a child.

No birth control is 100% effective and no hormonal because does anything to protect from stds. So you should ALWAYS use a condom. There is a chance of you being pregnant. Implanon can take up to 7 days to become effective. Plan be is up to 89% effective if taken within the first 72 hours. I don't know when about 2 days ago really was (was it really 2? Really 3? Only you know) if your not ready for a baby, pay more attention to the protection you're using from now on. Any time you begin a new medication you should be reading up on it. You need to know all about your because. When it's effective, when it might not be, what the side effects are. And you should be using a condom still.

It takes at least 3 months for it to be properly in your system. You shouldn't worry about being pregnant if it was just 2 days ago. You will know in a month. Then you start worring if your period doesn't show.

The words - sex without a condom and I am not ready to have a child jumped out at me.

If you are not ready to become responsible for a child then you should 100% do everything to make sure you are protecting yourself.

Just by figuring it be safe does not mean that it will be - did you read the instruction leaflet?
After only taking it for 6 days did you not think using a condom would be a much safer option?

I do not mean to preach but if the heat of the moment and your judgment goes out of the windows then this I am afraid is the consequences to selfish actions.

I hope this will prove to be a false alarm but hope it will be a lesson learned.
