My mechanic told me did a code read for my Honda CRV 2002, told me it was the Oxygen sensor, needed to be replaced ($450), which I can't afford presently.., but I need to get my inspection sticker immediately, how can I shut off this light on my own to get the sticker... I have tried everything. Like, the reset button, unplugging the battery(which, turns it off for a few seconds when you start up, then goes back on),, I am at a lost, and need to get the sticker,, because I am getting tickets, because its expired.
I am thinking the extreme, now, like disassembling the dashboard. To cut the wire, etc...

Clearing the 'check engine' light will not help to pass inspection.

When inspection station hooks up their computer to car it will show all problems that exist relevant to inspection.

The only thing you can do is replace the oxygen sensor, reset the ECM, and drive the car enough cycles for the ECM's internal monitors to reset. Otherwise, the Check Engine Light may go out but the status of the monitors will cause the car to "FAIL."

Here's how to replace the oxygen sensor yourself and save a bundle of money:
