We just got a hampton bay ceiling fan(the one with the hand carved wood leaflook blades) . We have the fan up and running and the light kit hooked up and it works but the golbe that comes with the light kit will not go on right. When we put the globe on it touches the blades causing the light to turn too which I know isn't right. THe problem is there is not enough thread to make the dlobe come down any farther on the finial. Could this simply be fixed by buying a longer finial(thread tube)? Or could something be wrong in the initial installation?

Was the light included with the fan or was it an added accessory. Sounds like because of the shape of the blades, the light comes too close to them. Simply extending the light down some should be fine.

You had the option of buying the light kit with this fan or just having a fan. I went searching to see if I could find anymore people with this same problem and I did. Apparently when this first antigua fan came out the blades were flat and now they dip down some. Well hampton bay failed to update the light kits with an extender to be able to drop the globe down. WE just went back to home depot and told them about it and they opened a packaged of the threads and gave us a longer one. YOu can call Hampton Bay though and they will also send you the extender. WE couldn't lower the globe down anymore or the kit until we got that longer thread tube. The one that came with it just was too short. Hoepfully this will help other users who stay up until midnight trying to figure what in the world they have done wrong LOL.

I'm glad you got it worked out.
