There was a garnishment taken from my account for HOA fees. A judgement was rendered and then after the monies were collected, the garnishment was released without prejudice.

Can the law office that submitted the garnishment charge post judgement fees and they be passed on to me the owner? Is there a limit amount is the state of GA if they do? The post fees are over $3000. Almost triple what the original amount due was. Not to mention over $1000 in attorney fees already paid.

I do not believe they can come after you for anything over the amount awarded as judgement except for interest and fees incurred in collection of the judgement. But those would have to have been listed on the writ of execution.

You go back to the court that issued the judgement and ask. A writ of garnishment is issued by a court when they try to collect by garnishing your salary. A writ of execution is issued when they are attaching a bank account or other asset.

Some jurisdictions will mix the terms or use them interchangeably.
