Add rice to them. That will help block the holes so less comes out.

So that's why they do that! I always thought it was to absorb moisture. I learn something new everyday. :D

Actually, I've heard that too... but ran into the same problem as the OP with shakers we love but the holes were way too big... so I tried the rice thing and it works like a charm. :D
