I installed a replacement Totalline themostat with touchscreen programming. The unit had 4 wires including a jumper from RH to RC. I wired it the same. When the compressor for AC comes on, it resets the thermostat I presume because of the power draw. Instructions state I need a C wire for more power to the thermostat. I installed new 5 wire and connected to the C wire on the Carrier unit. Now the thermostat is just dead. Suggestions after I disconnect the C wire? I bought the thermostat because of a desired programmable fan feature.

More info. I have power to the AC unit at the shut-off box but the AC unit seems to be dead. Is there some sort of reset button? Is there a way to test the circuit board or is it time to pay a tech?

Did you check the small fuse at the control board?

I called a tech in. I had put the common wire in the RC slot on the stat.. . felt foolish about it but understood the problem. They replaced the fuse on the control panel and we are in business. Thanks.
