View Full Version : 1990 Honda Accord Running Hot/Idling High

Hey all. I have a 1990 Honda Accord. I recently bought it just for the sole purpose of getting me to and from work. I had it for about 2 days it ran fine, no problems. The next day I get up and drive to work, and it's running extremely hot. So I change the thermostat. Solves the problem for that day. Next day it's running hot again, and now it is starting to idle back and forth while in park between 1.5-2.5. I'm no mechanic so I'm not sure what I should be looking for. Any suggestions as to what I should be looking for? Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

Honda radiators, on average, last around 150,000 miles. Corrosion or phosphate scale may require replacing the radiator. Infrared thermometers are great for locating cold spots (read blockages) in radiators.
