I need to remove my igniter so do need to remove my distrubetor from 1988 honda civic lx, and do I have to realing the timing. Thank you

There is no need to remove the distributor housing. Just remove the distributor cap (set it aside with wires attached), rotor, and dust cover. Then, remove the coil, to provide more room for working on the igniter.
You may have to "hit" the starter briefly to rotate the rotor, in order to have access to the mounting screw.

How do I hit the starter do you mean crank it.do I just turn the starter

I mean to briefly hit the starter, so the starter motor rotates the rotor. Yes, crank it.
While you have everything apart, I would install a new rotor.

It would be a good idea to take a ruler and an awl and scratch a line across the distributor mount and the block, just in case you ever remove your distributor. This will ensure your timing is very close to where it should be. Scratch the line near the top mounting bolt. This could save your neck someday.
