I have a Roper clothes dryer about 4 years old and it needs a new heating element. We had a tech. come out and give us an est. however we cannot afford to pay 235 dollars can I replace this myself? Where do I find the element? I removed the back cover and did not see anything that looks like a heating element.

That sounds high!
The heating element will be enclosed in a box-like assembly, so you won't initially see the telltale coiled wire of the element.

Here (http://www.davesrepair.com/DIYhelp/DIYreplacingWPLdryels.htm) is a good site with instructions on replacing the dryer's element. It is a relatively easy task for a handy homeowner. I'd guess $30-50 for the part, and maybe an hour or so for a first-timer to swap it out. Make sure you unplug the dryer!!!

Best of luck,
