I have a new born baby boy due in the next couple of weeks and the mother is still trying everything in her power to keep me either out of the way or in the dark. She has told me the she doesn't want me to have anything to do with my son and is attempting to keep me away from him the day he is born by trying to get any and everyone to not tell me that she has gone into labor. She has also recently changed her last name to her step fathers/mothers name and her mother is currently running the show and keeping her under house arrest as if the mother thinks that this baby is hers and is giving me the impression she might try to give the baby up for adoption to her parents before they move to Montana. So I was just wondering if anyone had any information like what my rights as a father are and how I can make sure that she doesn't give our baby to her parents.

What state are you in?

Pre birth, if your state has a putative fathers registry, you need to register IMMEDIATELY. It is for men who may be the father of a baby but before paternity established. This way she cannot try to have the baby adopted out before birth to her parents. She will have to have a DNA test done after birth, if you are the father, you will have a hearing to establish child support and your custody/visitation rights.

You need an attorney, now.
