If I gave a nice gift at the bridal shower, do I have to give another gift at the wedding?

You never HAVE to give a gift. It may be expected but it's not a "have to."

However, these are two different events and it is customary to give two different gifts.

Yes it is normal custom to give a gift, esp the wedding gift, if you only wished to do one, I would have opted for the wedding.

Now as noted you don't have to give one,

You should at least try to cover the cost of your dinner.and drinks for your party.

It is traditional to give a smaller gift at the shower - usually a household item, a larger gift at the wedding. However, as other's have said it is not mandatory but expected.

As others have said you don't have to.

Besides if there are a lot of people at the wedding I doubt the bride would notice that you didn't give a gift.

Just a thought..

The bride & groom should not expect wedding gifts, though it is common practice these days, so many couples do.

Traditionally, the bridal shower is just that... to "shower" the bride with gifts. The wedding is meant to enjoy the company of loved ones. Gifts are not mandatory at weddings.
