:)
My neighbour wants to go walking with me in the mornings. She's a lovely gal, and I don't mind but not all the time. I really enjoy my times alone, and if she asks if she can go walking with me each day, WHAT DO I SAY? I'm OK with a couple of times each week, but I don't want to have the company all the time. I don't want to appear rude or mean.
PLEASE HELP!

Its not rude to honestly and politely say 'i really just want some quiet time right now, thanks anyway, ill catch you next time'
Remmeber, if she isn't nice enough to accept a polite refusal, she isn't worth having as a friend anyway .

PLEASE HELP!!Hello martina;
This is as fast as I could respond.. Uhhh, why don't you say that you enjoy your times alone but a couple times a week would be fine.
There's a couple things good about that. It's the truth, and it isn't rude.

You can never go wrong with being honest. I love time alone.

I love my private time too.
I agree with the others, don't be afraid to just say, "sorry, but I'd rather walk alone today". And leave it at that, no discussion. Repeat if necessary (and it probably will be necessary to repeat a few times).

As noted you explain to her that you walk for exercise but also to clear your mind. Sometimes you want company but other times you don't. Maybe suggest that Tue and Thur you can walk together.
By the way, this seems hardly a situation that requires a super quick response. Also using such a subject line is rude and violates the guidelines of this site. The subject line is supposed to give a brief explanation of what your question is about. Any post will be answered as quickly as someone who wishes to answer sees it.

The reason why I posted "Super quick response needed" was because I just asked this question yesterday aft. And I'm meeting up with her this am. Sorry if it offended you!!

I understood why you used that subject, but my point was that it was unnecessary and would not have gotten you any faster answer. Please conform to the site guidelines in the future.

Please understand that we are not paid people who sit behind computers to answer questions. We are ordinary people, with ordinary lives who answer on our own free time. We have regular jobs and regular families. We volunteer our time here, so sometimes it may take a while to get a response depending who is online at the time.

Good gollly I wasn't expecting anyone who didn't want to take the time to answer to feel anyone was under some sort of mandatory obligation. I simply was under a bit of a time crunch. I answer questions from others w/out feeling as though it's an obligation of my time. I KNOW no one here "sits around answering questions all day". Please understand I simply needed some quick advise. Again, I apologize for offending... sure didn't mean to!!
