My son keeps saying things when he gets mad to shock people. He is a sweet loving little boy who just gets so mad. He is in a daycare situation and has been labeled a "troubled" child from early on by some overbearing teachers there.

If you were to meet him you would never know this. He loves to tell stories and loves to be the center of attention. But sometimes, not all the time, when he gets into trouble he shouts he is going to kill himself, get bitten by a shark, get squished by a car, or that he wants this to happen to you. He does not do this to me mostly because I do not entertain it.

But now they are insisting on me getting him help. I am agreeable to this e=because I know it is easier to fix now rather than later. But I really only see this as a problem processing his emotions and he will grow out of it.

What do you all thinK?

As he grows up, he will only become more canny and sophisticated at finding ways to be the center of attention, and not always in ways you will appreciate. Can you find ways for him to be a positive center of attention? That's what a therapist would do, among other things. Yes, I encourage you to go to a child management expert who had a stellar reputation.

Sounds like a serious issue somewhere, either with the child, or the parenting, not enough info to tell.

Be glad that the education system cared enough to force you to do something

How old is he?

How long has he been doing this?

Are there any major changes at home?

This is not new, but it has escalated.

New things at home are he is going to kindergarten. He is five.

Yes, I think the parenting could be better but on the same note, both me and my husband (his father) are involved and caring. We discipline and some times lose patience but also try to have some fun.

He is smart. On the way to school today we were talking about a 1800 mile road trip the three of us will be taking and he was very demonstrative with the OH MY GOSH aspect. He has no concept. I think language is his outlet. He just has to learn to use it for good.
