I am painting an old desk, and I have sanded it and will begin painting. I am using high gloss oil based paint. What is the best tool to use to paint the desk, a roller or a paint brush? I don't want to have streaks which is hard not to using oil paint. Do I need to put a primer on first? Judy:)

Hi Judy, maybe you've done the desk by now, but what you have to do is use two coats of primer first, then lightly sand this to remove any 'pimples of paint' then paint the gloss on with a flat painters brush, but to avoid the paint 'dragging' dilute the gloss very slightly so it flows on very smoothly. Do about 3 coats for the best effect, and very lightly sand the between coats. Best of luck, Kate :-)
