I have an Acer, Aspire Series 3690-2196, Mod: BL50 Laptop, vintage 2007.

When it goes into screensaver mode, it starts playing this awful music, (a factory feature).

Does anyone know how to turn it off without just lowering the volume?

Thanks...

Choose a screen saver without music or connect a set of speakers that has an on/off switch.

Thanks Perito. I didn't know that some screensavers came with and without music.

I actually just found another solution.

In screensaver "Settings" you can check a box that says "Mute Flash Sounds" in screensaver. That worked.

I still don't know exactly what a Flash Sound is though. Can you define that for me?

Thanks again.

Nice job in finding that.

I use the "Blank" screensaver -- no audio and no video.

You won't see that setting in all screen savers, just those that use Adobe Flash (Adobe Flash Player -- formerly Macromedia Flash). This setting (very useful in this case) mutes sounds created by Adobe Flash. Other sounds (say from an MP3 playing) continue unabated.
