My boyfriend is adopted and he wants to go and live with his real parents again. Both his real and adopted parents agreed to this. They called a police officer and the police officer said it would take a lot of paper work and a lot of time. How much time does it take for all the paper work to be done and for him to move back in with his biological parents?

There needs to be a lawyer involved in this. Probably SEVERAL lawyers.

Legally, your boyfriend is not related to his biological parents anymore. Essentially, his adoptive parents would need to relinquish parental rights and his biological parents would have to adopt him.

If they're not looking to get that permanent, there still needs to be a lot of guardianship and custody paperwork that needs to be filled out.

With a good lawyer, and depending on what they're trying to do exactly, it may take 6 months. With a less driven lawyer, and with dispute between the sets of parents as to what exactly is being set up--a year or two.
