Hey

I made a stupid mistake a month ago... I stole from hbc or what not and I got caught. Theyu said it was theft under 5000. So they checked my record and they seen that I was "clean" and they let me go. They told me I would receive a letter in the mail with a fine from the company and the city(they didn't mention anything about a court date). The security guard told me I wouldn't have anything on my record but there would be a note if I ever deal with the ottawa police. Today is the 20th and exactly a week will make it a month and I haven't received anything. Should I be worried? I'm 18 and I never got in trouble before do I have a criminal record now? What should I do? (read similar cases but they all went to court and got fingerprinted and did "diversion" prgrams etc but I didn't get fingerprinted or anything just a banned from the company and they claimed a letter in the mail with a fine) what should I do? Help please

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP

If they did not call the police I doubt you will hear from they police. If you do, it will be a date to report for fingerprint and photo, but if the police are involved you wll have ( or could have) a record.

Most likely you get a letter from the company, with a amount of money they want you to send them if you do, most liekly never hear from them again

I think they calld to make sure my record was clean
Its benn almost a month.. should I still be worried about the police(court ect)?
Does it usually take that long?

Well I just calld the police and they told me it will be only a note on their in house file and their not pressing charges. Also spoke to the loss prevention officer and he said that the police made their decision and that they won't be pressing chages bu I'm most likely will get a bill in the mail and the next month lol... I learned from my mistakes and I won't never do anything like that again... hopefully if anyone reading this that's going through the same thing hopefully that helps you out... I wish I would have known those consequences earlier... Thanks for your help
