Hi, I just had a new 3.5 ton heat pump condenser and variable speed air handler installed. The brand is carrier. I was concerned about the air handler unit stand (in the garage). It appears that one area near a back corner has bent and another corner on the far side from were he slid it on the stand bent outward a little. Also, on the air handler itself, an area across the bottom about 2-3 inches where the filter is loaded(which it is spring loaded), is bowed. This means when the front clip on cover with seals is put in place it is making a whistling sound and you can feel it suck air from the garage. It does not effect the filter going in and out. There is also a small tear, does not go all the way through, in the silver installation cover on stand. How concerned should I be about these issues? I am afraid the unit might not be level. This unit was costly as it is a 16.25 SEER and I need it to be a efficient as it can be. Thank You

Well if the unit is not level it will not drain properly. The small bow letting a little be of air from the garage should not be a problem. Can you post a pic of this stand?

Josh is right, if the unit is not level there is a chance the condensate drain won't work right. Or it might be just fine.

I would start by contacting the installer and asking that any cabinet leaks around those dents and dings be sealed for maximum performance, and to verify the unit is properly leveled.
