Hello,

Ok I have a older like 10 yr old hampton bay ceiling fan.

A friend of mine accidentally hit the reverse switch while the fan was running. Needless to say ended up blowing the cirut in the fuse box major arch from the reverse switch and now the fan won't even turn on.

When I opened up the case I found a black wire justg loose in the case. \

So here is my isse there is no schematic anyplace I can find so that I can replace the reverse switch or the pull chain switch.

The pull chain switch now smells burnt from what happened and the only thing that is working on the ceiling fan is the lighting kit.

Any one know of anyplace I can get a schematic of a ceiling fan so that I can replace the parts?

Thanks

Look for something with a missing wire, most reverse switches swap 2 wires. See if reverse switch has 4 wires. Before bypassing for testing, draw connections of reverse switch.
Then connect with out reverse switch, swap wires if turning in the wrong direction.
If that works a switch can ge gotten, does fan work when bypassing direction switch?

I have not tried it yet. There is a black wire that is just sitting loose in the can. The colors to the reverse switch are white red back and blue. The blue and white wires look like they are jumpers from the top to the bottom on either side of the reverse switch. There is one black wire connected to the middle on one side and a red connected to the middle on the other side. Then there is a black wire that looks like it came un solderd in the case. That black one I am sure completes the circuit however I don't know what it connected too? That's where I am confused bcs I don't want to short out the motor.

Also I noticed that the pull chain switch is what smells burnt. It has a red a black and a blue going from it. On the back side of the pull chain switch you can see a slight bubbled melted are I am guessing fromw hen it arched when I hit the reverse switched and then turned the fan on. I can take some pictures of how it all looks and maybe you can give me some idea of how to repair it.

Thanks

The reverse switch should have 4 wires, 2 at the corners, 2 in the middle, with wires crossing corners.
You could put red tape on the corner wires, and blue tape on the center 2 wires, then connect the red to blue and the other red to blue, that should get it going 1 direction. To reverse, hook red taped wire to other blue, and other red taped wire to other blue. If it doesn't work, you may not need to worry about the switch.

Take some pictures. The pullchain should be fine, sounds like one wire just came unattached.
