I have a 2 story home with big bathroom on 2nd floor directly above 1st floor kitchen. The shower must have a leak underneath it as we are unable to shower from pouring water through the ceiling into my kitchen. We have only been taking baths. I would like to know how to repair. The house is about 23 years old. I owned it the last 15 years. Only a few changes have been made. The ceiling is dry wall. Thank you.

What material are the pipes and drain? Custom tile or manufactured base and enclosure? If it's a manufactured base and enclosure does the floor flex a bit when you step into it? Let's have some details. Regards, Tom

Pipes are cooper. Some plastic from repairs we have done. It seems like the bathtub needs to be taken out to get to the leak? It one of the old harvest gold bathtubs. I am sure they don't make them anymore. When I take the access panel off the wall in the hallway , and put my hand in there I can feel the water leaking at he pipe. I hope this helps. Again none of the plumbing has been replaced. All original plumbing still remains in place.

Tell me more! What joint's leaking? Or is it the drain? I can't help if I don't have any information to go on. Regards, Tom

Don't know what a joint is. It only leaks if the shower is on. We can takes baths and water drain out. But as soon as the shower lever is lifted water starts pouring into the kitchen right onto my table.

Hold the phone! We started with a shower but now we're into a bathtub with a shower that as soon as the shower lever is lifted water starts pouring into the kitchen right onto my table.
By "shower lever" I assume you're talking about a diverter spout. ( I hate it when I have to keep guessing because I'm not being firnished information.)
Please! Please! Tell me what's happening. Does any water come out of the shower head. Remove the face plate and see where the water is coming from when you turn on the shower.and let me inow. Tom
