Does the inside unit make any type of noise?
The contractor wants to place it in my closet. The house is super noisy and placing this device in my own bedroom where I sleep really concerns me. Please help! I'm sitting here w/out a/c but don't want to make a mistake.

What do you mean by the house is super noisy? And where are the other options to put the unit if you do not use the closet?

It may come down to this: Which is potentially a greater problem, the noise or the current level of discomfort? It sounds as if placement options are very limited in your home.

The house is small with tile through out. So any little noise really echoes. I have a package unit but they only come in 13seer for trane. I can do another package unit but have been offered a Lennox split 16seer. I don't have a garage so they are offering to put it in my closet in my bedroom. This is where my concern lies. Yes its more energy efficient but if I loose sleep then forget it I will do another package unit. What do you think will I hear it? Or is it just a box and the actually motor is outside?

My options are a package unit (same as before) or try to install a split sys. More energy efficient. But if going to a 16seer from a 13seer will cost me sleep then I rather buy a package unit. Is it noisy? Will having it put in my bedroom closet cause noise?
