I have been using my BlackBerry Bold for 6 months as a tether to go online and have had no problems getting my Dell Inspiron 9400 running Windows XP Professional into hibernation until recently. I now get the message "RIM Virtual Serial Port V2 (Com5) is preventing Hibernation". I have tried to perform the suggested driver update but am told that no newer update is available. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to restore my computers ability to hibernate?

Did you load a virtual serial port program? Check in Add/Remove programs and remove it.

If that doesn't work, Click START | RUN, enter devmgmt.msc and click <OK>. Device Manager will come up. Click on "Ports" and see if COM5 is there. If it is, let us know what it says. If there is no COM5 there, look up and down the list of "devices". Look for anything that says "Virtual" or "Serial". Click the "+" next to it and look for COM5. Report back with what you find.
