In my apartment complex, it seems that 90% of the parents who live here Don't care about their kids.
We live in PHOENIX.
Next to a MAIN ROAD (for those of you who live here, its on bell road at the I17!! One of our busier streets! )
And yet, outside, WITH NO PARENTS, (not even a door or window open) I see a 1 year old, being babysat by a 4 year old. Happy as can be. I can only pray these children do not get kidnapped, hurt, or lost. Or worse yet, find their way into the pool not 5 feet away!
OMG!!
Thanks for listneing
Any thoughts on this?

It's amazing how some parents don't have brains. I'd be calling the police if I saw that but I'm sure you should start by talking to the parent. If no luck there then call Family and Children Services or the police to voice your concern.

I did call the police at one point last month when I saw a 1 year old by himself walking in the parking lot! They came and picked him up. I'm not sure what happened to him at that point

Call a child protective agency then.

Oh girl I am so with you on this one. In my town one block away there is a house with 6 level 3 child molestors living in it. Just down the street from me this little girl always played outside alone right on a bad curve, near a busy parking lot. Alone, always. It would be nothing for her to be snatched or a car lose control on the curve and hit her. Well much to my surprise she is now in my sons class and they became friends. Every weekend all day Saturday and Sunday I pick her up and just keep her and it does my heart good knowing she is with us and safe at those times.
Then my neighbors have 3 girls ages 4, 6 and 7. Well they just put in a big pool. I told my son he will never be over swimming in that because the parents leave the girls alone out there and they don't know how to swim. They hang on to pool noodles to keep themselves up. How smart are those parents! UGh

Oh I'm glad you can keep that little girl safe now that she and your son are friends! I did that to a brother and sister last year that became friends with my daughter. These kids would be out from sun up till down, all day. So I brought them in every other day or so and fed them lunch, took them swimming, and they played in aylas room. At least they weren't outside alone.

It's a bit like that here... 10 year olds whizzing down the street on motorbikes without helmets...
15 year olds in mini skirts pushing prams...
I can't wait until they sell off the last of the housing commission houses in my area

The older kids don't bother me too much. I can ignore the stupidity and the provacitive behavior.
It's the little ones that bother me. Like, 6 and under

Yes, it is disturbing.
Makes you wonder what sort of people the parents are...

My mom used to tell me stories about the town we grew up in, it was tiny. My bro got out one day and 3 neighbors called my mom, and the first already had him in their kitchen eating halloween candy. I think he was like 16 months old. It kills me that parents think this is okay. I'm so glad you do something about the kids being unsupervised. You neighbor may hate you for reporting them, but if they won't be responsible on their own, hopefully that will help them realize that it's just not okay.

Years ago when I was growing up my parents lived on a big estate, everybody knew each other, when the kids were out playing, there was always adults around to keep an eye on the kids...
Today, where I live there are 7 and 8 years olds pushing there young siblings around in buggies, out till 9 and 10 at night.not a parent to be seen!
To own a dog we need licence,a licence to watch TV,the same with fishing, and if its found that you don't,your looking at a court appearance! Laws and regulations on just about everything.
Any feckin idiot can have a child.

I would like to note that I am in a humorous and sarcastic mod today before making my next statement.
Want to borrow mine when I have it? Hahahahaha okay done. Couldn't be helped.

redhed35, such a good point - you need a license or permission for everything else...
I would call straight to child services and skip the parent talking. Parents like that don't care, don't want to talk, don't care what you have to say, and will mostly likely just make excuses or get ticked off and you accomplish nothing.
Of course, if it's like around here, they won't do anything because they are busy taking care of the things that are 10 times worse.

It just makes me so sad, because these parents are NOT going to learn anything until their child DOES get hurt, or stolen, or eventually taken away by the state. It shouldn't take something like that to make a parent wake up and be a parent.
And even then, some parents just don't get it.

I thought that happened only where I live. My neighborhood is geneally safe for a 'hood but
I see it all the time, moms put thieir kids out the door by 9 or 10 am (even 2 yr olds) and they lay there watching soap operas and playing video games until they call the kids in at 6 or 7 pm for dinner. I have seen kids in diapers at the stop sign at midnight with no parents around. Kids 6 yrs old walk up and down the streets ALL night long sometimes.
Call the child protective services and tell them they need to randomly like once a week or once a month spend a few hours watching that area.
Call anonamously, child protective services is suppose to keep who called confidential anyway but I am sure some might not.

My new addition to this annoyance is my neighbors. Neither of them work, but are perfectly capable, they make the choice not to. They get everything paid for by the state. So now there daughters come over and tell me how poor they are. But yet mommy and daddy have cigs, smoke pot and do coke. Which I know all that for a fact. I bust my butt, have always worked 2 jobs to get by and then they sit home with a big flat screen and a new pool. Interesting.

Definitely that has been going on in my neighborhood for years. They will buy cigarettes and stuff for themselves and send the kids to the neighbors crying how poor they are to get food.
Then people will give them really nice clothes, furniture, toys, food and other stuff. The in a matter of days or weeks you see it in the garbage. They don't work for it so they don't appreciate it. I call it the ''greedy needy''
I get state benefit things on and off but I hate it when people abuse the system with their laziness and entitlement attitude.
