Hello!
Why can't I use my phone outside my current country?

Sometimes it is because your current provider is not using the same technology as the country you are traveling to. Such as GSM, CDMA, TDMA etc. Sometimes your provider has the right technology but maybe the phone doesn't, you may just need an equipment upgrade if you haven't had one in awhile.

There are several reasons your phone won't work outside of your current country. This can be:

1. Carrier compatibility. Sometimes your carrier hasn't made any partnerships with other companies abroad.
2. Carrier Technology. This has to do with the cell phone system that is in place and compatibility with other companies when you go abroad.
3. Cell phone compatibility. Some phones just don't have the ability to work abroad due to different systems/frequencies that your model of phone uses.
4. Cell Phone software blockage. Most phones are called "locked" meaning the operating system has been designed to work with your home cell phone company. In order to work outside of your country, it may need to be "unlocked".

The best thing to do is to call your carrier and ask them what the steps are in order to have a working phone in another country.

But as a forewarning, sometimes this can get expensive! So study the pricing before you travel!
