Dustin-Here are the causes of your problem {ONE of them anyway ;; WE will start with the first most proble cause;; #1- dryer runs on 110 volts , but no heat;; the dryer must have 220 volts a/c power to heat; so check the breakers in the electrical panel, if you have the {Screw in fuses ,one of them will most likely be blown ;; #2- FAULTY OVERHEAT PROTECTOR: #3DEfective heating element;;#4-DEfective centrifugal switch;:: #5- THE THERMOSTAT;;#6THE start switch::#7- THE timer switch;; #8 SEE BOTTOM OF THIS PAPER:: {DUSTIN you will need a VOLT -OHM meter to do these testsh,you can pick one up at Lowe's in the electrical dept. for less tyhen $15.00 ;; NOW durning these testsd we do not want any power on dryer at all ,so unplug the cord from the wall receptical . THE VOLT OHM meter will be set on the RX-1scale on all tests; mOH 220 volts uis non forgiveing safety first; READY to go ; Pull dryer out from the wall ,disconnect the powercord;; #1- Remove the back panel, and down at the bottom you will see the heating element ,inside a metal duct;and the heat protectors are on top of the duct;; #2- set volt ohm meter to the rx-1 scale;; #3- TO TEST HEAT PROTECTORS - REmove one of the wires comeing to it ,CLIP the meter probes to the wire terminakls; if the meter reads {ZERO ohms} the protector is good ;;if it reads higher it is defective -replace;; #4- TO test the heating element- there will be{ two tests}on
It {TEST for open circuit- REmove both wires , insert the meter probes into the wire terminals, IF the meter reads between 8 and 20 ohms ;the heater is good;; if the meter reads higher it is defective -replace;;; #5- To test the heater for grounding- WIRES are still disconnected- Place one meter probe to one iof vthe wire terminals and place one probe to the duct. If meter reads high the heater is good not grounded;IF needle swings toward the low end {O} then it is grounded and needs replaced;; #6- TO test the centrifugal switch- NOTE -Should be on the motor} REmove both wires, take out the screws, and lift off the motor, Note- on some modles the switch is inside the motor and has tyo be removed and taken to a shop to be repaired;; ]IF it has burnt terminals then replace the switch;; ;;;;Now for a new error;; #1-TO test the thermostat - REmove the top control panel, REmove the wires from the thermostatclip meter probes to the wire terminals, Turn the thermostat switch to any setting except the " FLUFF DRY"" if the meter reads {ZERO OHMS} the thermostatis ok,if it reads high it is defective-replace;; #2- To testthe start switch- Disconnect the wires that are made of heavy wire, Clip meter probes to the wire terminals Press the start button, ,if the meter reads {ZERO OHMS} the switch is good;if the meter reads high it is defective -replace;; #3- TO test the timer; Disconnect one of the wires comeing to it clip both probes to the terminals ,Turn timer knob to " NORMAL DRY" ,if meter reads {ZERO OHMS} the switch is OK if it reads high it is defective -rep;ace;; NOW For #8- Make sure that you have re hooked up the wires you disconnected;; YOU should now almost have a new dryer;; When one of the tests do not come out right then you have found the problem; but still it would not hurt to check the other items ;; GOOD LUCK AND REMEMBER Safety FIRST:: I hope this helps and I have answered all the questions; Have a great day and GOD BLESS::F.B.E.;;;;COPY this for a future reference;;
