How can I check to see if the compressor is running on my Amana refrigerator. It will not cool and I suspect a freon leak.:)

The simplest way is to put your hand on the compressor when it's supposed to be running. You'll feel it vibrating and you'll normally hear it (unless you're hard of hearing). It'll also get pretty hot even when it's running normally.
