so my wireless is in my home and it used to be in the room next to me and work fine. I never got kicked from aim I never randomly lost connection and never got kicked from any program. Never have had this much trouble. A few months ago my mom moved the wireless stuff to her room. A floor up from me. My laptop is brand new and its hp.
I need something to help make my signal stronger. I have other networks that are stronger and not in my house. So how can I make my signal stronger or what can I buy or do? Helppp :(
thankss

The "other networks" that are stronger are probably using the same channel as your wireless router is. Change the transmit channel on your router. They are probably interfering with each other.

How can I do that?
Almost all the networks if not ALL the networks are secured, included mine.

First, use aprogram such as the free Netstumbler to select the most interference free channel in the router by using the highest signal to noise ratio.

Antenna orientation is also an issue. Sometimes a 45 deg angle will give better performance. If there are two antenna's, orient them in diffferent directions.

Large closets, brik walls etc will attenuate the line of sight signals.

When that fails, purchase a wireless repeater.
It will repeat the wireless device having a particular MAC address.

I have a location where when I sit in a chair with out the repeater which is about 6 feet away and about 5' higher than me, the signal is unusable with the repeater off.

It also allows me access in the yard and the porch. There is a line of sight problem for these areas.
