Hi,

I just installed a new vanity top/sink and two handle faucet in my bathroom. When I run water for more than 1 minute or if I fill up the sink, the water pours out the back of the drain pipe attached to the sink (from the hole the drain stopper hardware goes in). How can I stop this from leaking? Thanks.

You most likely didn't put the pop-up drain assembly washer into the drain opening the way it should go.

Remove the large nut that holds the horizontal rod in. Remove the rod. There should be plastic cup-like washer ( pivot seat and gasket ) that ball sits in. See the exploded view...

Hi all:

I've noticed that many of the faucet manufacturers have changed the arrangement for the washer setup at the horizontal pivot rod...

Check the instructions included with YOUR faucet... it will have a picture showing EXACTLY how to place all washers into place.

Let us know how you make out...

OK, I didn't even see the washer as it was inside the drain already and the opening was facing the wall. I reseated the washer and the leaking stopped. I now have a different problem though. If I retighten the large nut fully, then the horizontal rod will not move up and down.

Ok, tighten it too much. Back off 1/4 turn. Tighten by hand only . See if it works better...

Thank you Milo for both of your responses. It has been 2 days now with no leaking.:)
