How do I set the timing on my Briggs and Stratton push mower?

I have a Craftsman LT100 riding lawn mower. The Lt100 no longer goes forward when I put it in gear. It was working perfectly, but just ceased to go forward. I have properly clutched and placed in gear, but no movement. I ensured the brakes was not engaged. What could be the cause for the mower not to go forward? It starts and runs well.

Hi,
If you have an engine old enough to use points, then turn the engine clockwise after replacing the points/condensor (the condenser is one point contact) until the breaker arm moves toward the condenser and then opens fully. With the condenser clamp slightly loosened, ease the condenser toward the breaker arm until you have a snug 0.020" and tighten clamp. I use a 1/4" nutdriver. Close it up, put the flywheel on and tighten. Reassemble the rest and go. Incidentally, the point produce a strong enough spark as to fir the plug when the engine is spun quickly by hand.
Peace,
Clarke

Hi,
To pkjacque, you need to start your own thread to avoid confusion. No one can easily see and answer your question since it is attached to another question and only that subject appears.
At any rate I would say that your belt is off a pulley, my guess is the one on the top of the transaxle.
Peace,
Clarke
