I have a 10 yrs old female sheltie, she is 15 lbs, always has been very consistent weight. She has always been a fussy eater, and I only feed her dry dog food for small breeds, the same food. Since Sunday she hasn't been eating, drinking a little water. She seems rather lathegic, not herself at all. She has been going for her daily walks, she usually urinates fine along the way and poops once, yesterday she didn't poop, but she was still urinating. Today she seems worse and she had a bowel movement but it was very loose, which hers are never like that. Can you help me? I have lost my job, and really can't afford to bring her to the vet, but if this is serious I may have to find a way, what do you think?

Call the vet at least. Maybe they will advise you over the phone. If they want to see her, please take her in. Certainly they are in the business of caring about animals and will work something out with you regarding payment. (Offer a barter of some sort, that you volunteer so many hours for them or somesuch).

Call your veterinarian and tell him your situation. Ask him/her about a payment plan, bake them a cake and show up asking for a check-up. You'd be surprised. It could be anything, you don't want your dog to be suffering because you've fallen on financial difficulties. Good luck and GOD bless you.

A couple of possibilities come to mind; unfortunately they all involve the vet. Payment plans and barter are good ideas, I'm not sure about the cake but it would get their attention.

You will probably have to contact the vet it sounds like a stomach virus or it could be something simple also make sure the dog didn't get into chocalate. You may need to give her canned meat dog food and not dry all the time they need a little of both to keep a healthy diet.
