Hi, I've been on the pill for about a year now and I've had no problems with it, yet I have come down with a throat infection and the doctor prescribed me with antibiotics. I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend 2 days ago and I am not sure whether I should start my antibiotics as of yet as I'm not sure whether there would be a chance of becoming pregnant.
Could anyone help ?

My understanding has been that your because is effective until once you begin taking the antibiotics. I understand your concern about the because, but I'd also like to point out that sometimes things left untreated can get worse. So if your dr prescribed you antibiotics a few days ago, that's probably when you should have started taking them. And for that, I would advise you to start taking them now.

what do you mean by bc?
sorry
Birth control

Why aren't you taking the antibiotics?

If you're on the pill, what do you mean by "unprotected sex"?

1. why did you stop taking birth control

2. why are you not taking the antibiotics

3. you can become pregnant even using birth control, it is far from 100 percent effective.
No method is. People get pregnant using condoms and birth control ( while it is a lot harder)

So can you become pregnant, yes of course you can if you are having sex, with birth control it is harder but still possible, unprotected and off birth control a lot easier

Take your antibiotics and your birth control pills... you can use extra protection for now, such as condoms, while you are on the antibiotics to give you additional protection and some peace of mind.
