View Full Version : Central air evaporator coil

Where is the evaporator in central air and how do I clean it.not low on feon just had it put in thought that was problem,but ran OK for a while and then fan stayed on in outside unit and iced HELP!!

If the outdoor fan continued to run, it is safe to assume that the compressor did also. If the indoor fan stopped when the thermostat demand for cooling ended, ice formation on the indoor coil (evaporator) is highly likely. Sounds like the outdoor contactor is stuck in the engaged (on) position.

Hard to decipher from your message but did you say you just had refrigerant added? If so, did the tech find and fix the leak? Being low on refrigerant can cause icing. I agree, KC's scenario also cause icing.

Please clarify.
